There's been no update to how the DVD player is handled in a long time. I don't even have DVD player any more on any computer. But BioEra should still work with most DVD codecs (not all, I know).
The DVD8 is the codec which Jeff Carmen uses and one which he is able to run on any computer. This is not to say however than other codecs are not supported. The BioEra's DVDPlayer element is using Windows DVD api, it is not specifically targeted for any specific codec. So technically any codec which properly implements Windows API should work just fine. I was able to use other codecs before. The main unknown is whether something that works on one computer will also work on another. The only way at this moment is to try it out.
Another possibility is to convert a DVD movie to a video file and use VideoFilePlayer which seems to be more reliable (with right codecs installed). |
