|
On my windows 10 hp laptop the midi tones in BioEra have stopped working
In my mixer window it shows activity in the BioEra slider area. There is no activity in the main speaker volume slider. Thus no sound. All other sounds are working fine
I have spent considerable time online trying to solve this. All my sound drivers are up to date.
Any advice sincerely appreciated
Thanks. |

Is this happening also with the Midi.bpd example design which comes with BioEra? |

Yes it is.
I also have an external sound device attached through usb. The results are the same with that. |

This looks like some sort of Windows sound device configuration problem. I don't see any issue on Windows 10 here with midi.
I am curious, do you see your devices on the "Midi device" list (in the element properties)? This list is automatically generated based on actual devices detected in Windows. |

Yes the list is there and default synthesizer is selected. The other options listed do not allow for any instrument selection. |

Yes, that is correct that only default synthesizer can be used with instrument selection.
It should be possible to select other devices but then instruments (if available) are set on those devices, not BioEra element. |

I doubt this is a BioEra problem. I think something is wrong with the audio device or audio configuration on that Windows computer. I just tried on another Windows 10 computer and it works.
Do you hear anything when you play the ContinuousTone.bpd example design? |

I hear nothing. The mixer shows BioEra producing sound but I hear nothing. I have searched the web trying to find solutions but have had no success. I might try to reinstall windows if nothing else works. |

You probably already tried it, but if not I see this option (in Windows settings, bottom page on "App volume and device preferences") which might be worth a try:
"Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults"
or this:
"Troubleshoot".
I have never had such problem, so can't think of anything else. Reinstallation of Windows is a good idea, especially if this is a new computer (I always reinstall Windows even if it comes preinstalled). |

Problem solved. The onboard trouble shooting was no help. I finally found a link to the driver software online Reinstalled the driver and all is fine now. |
